• What are the trade show hours? Workshops and keynote speakers draw crowds at trade shows, but can leave only a small amount of time for attendees to walk the floor. Make sure the schedule allows enough time for attendees to check out the trade show displays.

  • Who will clean my display area at night? Don't count on cleaners. Read the show's fine print to find out what is and isn't included with your trade show space. Double check your inclusions before you get there to be sure that you don’t get caught out.

  • How secure is my display area after hours? A trade show prime real estate for thieves, as well as prime snooping ground for corporate spies carrying cell phone cameras. Find out how secure your booth will be at night.

  • Are there any opportunities to speak? Address the crowd well and people will follow you back to your trade display. Then you can give them the sales pitch.

  • Who are my trade show neighbours? The bigger their booths, the more likely your neighbours are going to do some sort of live presentation at the show. Ask about rules on noise and booth design.

  • How are you marketing the show? There should be a printed and online directory of all exhibitors. Ask about brochures or invitation you can mail to your customers to market your trade show booth before the event.
